Loop, Swoop & Pull

EXPLANATION AT BOTTOM

This is a game about hyperreflection, also known as the Centipede's Dilemma. How well can you perform an action which is usually performed automatically if you cannot rely on muscle memory? For instance: tying your shoes while controlling your hands with a keyboard instead of your own muscles.

Your hands can move in all directions. Each of your four fingers can grab a piece of lace pinching together with the thumb. Each hand has a pin that can be used to pin pieces of lace in the air.

Do you remember how to tie your shoes? Loop, swoop and pull!

This game was made for the GMTK Game Jam 2025, where the theme was "Loop". We fulfilled this theme because you have to loop, swoop and pull to tie your shoes.

EXPLANATION

Thank you for playing Loop, Swoop & Pull, a game by the Tervoort Cousins!

Move the hands around and grab laces to tie a knot.

For a better perspective, try different camera angles. You can switch between them using the buttons shown in the main menu. By default: 1 for the top down view, 2 for the front view, 3 for the left view and 4 for the right view.

You can grab multiple pieces of lace with one hand, one per finger. Control each finger separately.

Every hand has one pin that can be used to pin all pieces of lace currently being held by the hand in place. Pressing the pin button a second time removes the pin so it can be reapplied.

Try to tie a sturdy knot that won't come undone when the foot starts moving. 

You can follow the basic steps: 

Cross
Cross the two laces in the middle.   

Tuck
Tuck one of the laces under the cross.    

Loop
Create a loop of one of the laces.

Swoop
Swoop the other lace around the loop while keeping enough space to pull it through. Don't forget to use your pins to your advantage!

Pull
Pull a second loop through the hole you left.

If you did it right, you should have a sturdy knot! Or you can make your own knot!

When you think your knot is tight enough, press "I'm Done". The shoe will shake for 10 seconds. You win if the knot stays tied. Good luck!
